CRUISING
Oregon’s oldest yacht club had its beginnings in 1908 as the Willamette Motor Boat Club, and remains to this day the favorite for many motor boaters. Organized cruises began as early as the early 1920s, when club members travelled to anchorages on local rivers and downriver on the Columbia River as far as Ilwaco, WA.
Club cruises include St. Patrick’s Day, Memorial Day, the traditional Men’s Cruise, Fourth of July and Labor Day events, Bald Eagle Days in quaint Cathlamet, WA, the annual Down-the-River cruise, and typically a rendezvous in the Puget Sound region, the late summer cruise to Beacon Rock and many other non-hosted cruises to the Club’s Outstation on Sauvie Island.
